Divine Intervention

Faithful servants who have been chosen by their god possess a unique Skill such as Invoke the Sky Dancer or Invoke the Fogweaver. This Skill is used to activate the special power granted by their deity, such as turning the undead or conjuring an unnatural fog. It can also be used to beseech your patron directly for divine intervention.

When you invoke your deity and beg for a miracle, you must always roll against the risk of angering them with your entreaty. You may only ask for miracles within their domain. When you invoke the Fogweaver, for example, the miracle you ask for must be somehow related to their purview of mysteries, intuition, and obscurity.

The greater the miracle you’re asking for, the more upset your deity will be if your faith or resolve is weak. If you anger them, they may or may not still grant your request. They might give you what they think you need, rather than what you asked for. Their aid may come with a condition, or with strings attached. They may impose some penance or geas that must be completed before you can invoke them again.

The GM decides exactly how the miracle manifests. The gods are capricious, demanding, prone to irony and whim. Ask the Fogweaver to heal a wound, and she might make it vanish so long as you keep it covered and hidden from sight. Ask the Sky Dancer, and you might find the wound starts to throb and reopen every time you break her strictures.
